Mister N

 "Mister" Nancy Kravitz (aka Mister N) is what we call the quintessential "outsider artist." After a lifelong career as an international recording and touring rock musician, she found herself with a creative void that needed to be filled. Having never painted before, in the middle of 2012 she picked up a couple of pieces of colored chalk to release some of her inner demons. That started a foray into the painting world. Oils soon became the medium of choice and Mister quickly started producing works based on life, love and near death experiences. Painting from an emotional place with no technical training, a distinctive style emerged. It is constantly being redefined. Changing artistic mediums in her fifties was the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in an evolving career.

While starting to work in this unknown arena, personal tragedy struck. She relocated from her longtime home, the San Francisco Bay Area, to a small town in Kentucky. It was true culture shock. Trying to heal from the tragic loss of her muse, she incurred a traumatic brain injury, which almost stopped the prolific output. Eventually, the paint started to flow again, with the same autobiographical honesty that is a signature of Mister's distinct style.
